Playing with colour.

I received a package of seed beads, super-duo twins and the new Rizo beads last week.
As you can imagine I was very keen to play with the new items.

I also found a beautiful hot pink/orange Swarovski Volcano colour 'classical square fancy stone' article 4461 and certainly wanted to use this also.

So I decided to experiment with colours also - always a good practice to get into when looking for a new colour way. Make something small.

Here you have the fancy square Swarovski stone surrounded in green iris Czech seeds, then the olive green of the super duo twins coupled with Swarovski olivine 3mm bicones. I wanted to pick up the colour of the orange in the centre bead and trimmed the edges in galvanised orange 11/0s.
It just did not work and I neglected to take a picture to show you.

I have a friend who is an interior designer and she suggested to make the colours 'pop' use some blue.

Here you have the end result, and I am very glad I listened.

Gumball

You have seen the spike ball, you have seen the gumdrops,
now let me introduce to you......drum roll.......
"Gumball".

As much an experiment with beads as with colour and fun to make.

No Longer Extinct

Scientists announced today the re-discovery of a previously thought extinct botanical species called
"The Yellow Tipped Fluoro Flower" which is part of the Botanicus Patricus family.

The Yellow Tipped Fluoro Flower has not been sighted since the 1980s - coincidentally when
the last time fluoro colours were popular in fashion.

An expedition has been funded for scientists to travel to remote regions of Australia
to study the flower and hopefully cultivate it so we can enjoy
the Yellow Tipped Fluoro Flower whenever we like.

Yay to science!

New Profile Pic

I have been busy with things, other than beading, and hopefully will be getting back to creating
very soon.

In the meantime I thought it was time to update my profile pic - as the last one was about 10 years ago.
I am not a lover of having my picture taken but this one is the best of a bad bunch.

Look after Yourself

WARNING - BEADING IS HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH !!

I discovered beading in May 2007.
At that time I was on a health kick and had lost 5kgs and was
looking pretty fit and feeling great about myself.
Almost 6 years later I am 20kgs heavier.
I have a sore back and had no desire to exercise - I would rather bead!

My desire to exercise has returned and I have already lost 2kgs.
I just returned from swimming laps at the pool, I have been walking regularly
and my feeling about myself is getting better

AND GUESS WHAT???  -  I am still beading.

Here is my motto for 2013 as a reminder of my needs in life.

Shared with the intent of warning other passionate beaders to try and balance both.
